The Bubblegum Girl

Here she is, after many many months I can finally unveil my full film.

I want to send out a huge thanks to Amy Moffitt and Julian Pavett for all of their awesome backgrounds, and Phil Williams for his music.

And finally, watch it in high def for all the awesome.

Showreel 2011

Here's my latest Showreel. Its been quite a while since I posted anything on here but I'm sure there will be much more content now that everything is done and dusted.

I'll be posting my film soon, so keep an eye out for that.

Enjoy.

Also here's my Ultimate Image from our business module. This became the design for the back of my business cards.

Bubblegum Girl Animatic

Bubblegum Girl Animatic 2 from Darren Findlay on Vimeo.

This is my current working animatic for Bubblegum Girl. It's still very rough but it was mainly to time things out and try out tone within the scenes.

There are a few still images in there towards the end, as there's some bits I want to be able to reveal with the final film rather than spoil all the fun ahead of time.

Slo Mo Jump

So After Effects is a go. Most of this week is going to be spent watching a bajillion tutorials to try and get to grips with it all, but I had to try my hand at some slo mo, because it makes everything feel a little bit more epic. It's made up of old drawings, but I'm thinking it might be nice to get away from these characters for a while and have some fun with non bendy people.

Double Deadline All The Way Across The Sky

So 3 weeks of Flash and a dissertation proposal later, it's time to actually get started on Bubblegum Girl, for the next 9 weeks! Thats a whole lot of bendy doodles, fighting stances, battle choreography and world building in no particular order.

but in the mean time, why not test your heroic-ness:

Save The Ship

Bendy Kick

Here's a quick test I did playing around with body physics. I hope to include some realy over exagerrated bendy animation. I coloured it with Toon Boom and took some time to shade the character aswell, just to see if it was feasable. It took a while but worked well. I might put the character onto a background soon, i just didnt have any that fit with it.

Character Performance

Another piece from 2nd year, we were given dialogue, then designed a character and animated them speaking. It made me want to do more 11 second club work, July is coming up...

E4 Sting

This is the whole of the E4 sting from a few months back. Memories....

2010 Showreel

This is madeup of bits from my 2nd year at Glamorgan, mainly from my final film RUN!

I'll be getting back into animating very soon hopefully, painting walls isnt fun.

RUN! now with extra pixels

Youtube decided it likes 1080p now so here's a full res version of my film, i feel i should post it because of the hassle it took to get it to render with premiere pro, i need a new editing program...

RUN!

Here's my final film, im realy pleased with how it came out. its been a crazy few weeks since the deadline. I was nominated for best 2nd year at the Glammies so the film had its premier on a huge cinema screen, it was amazing seeing the film that big. it got a great response from the audience, it was great to get a fresh reaction as iv seen this film so many times i can't be objective anymore. I should get a 1080 version uploaded soon, but for now here it is.

Time to start planning on next years film now i think.

Enjoy

Colours

Here's a few coloured scenes, i realy like the way they're looking. the final film will have texture overlays.

Tests!

some more tests I managed to find. they'r quite dark again.

Some quick animation tests, i dont tend to save them so there isnt much to show. i'l upload more soon if i can dig them out.

they're a bit dark, thats just flipbook being flipbook

Here are some almost finished animation tests from my final film.

This is a shot of the characters feet as he begins his run through the desert.

A quick shot of the character pulling his scarf over his face, preparing for the desert conditions

The character ducking behind a car and checking his surroundings..

I'l upload some more soon, aswell as the finialised layouts and the coloured versions.
